Hall of Fame Class of 2022 nominations open through August 1

Do you know someone who has a strong swimming record of top performance or a long-term coach who has made a difference.  Then please nominate them for the MN Masters Hall of Fame by sending an email to the cochairs, Marc Anderson and Tom Hodgson.  You can find all the details of the process here.

Gopher Masters Mania

We have now published the results from the Gopher Masters Mania meet.  Many fast swims and it appears that 58 individual and 12 relay records were broken at the meet.

Simple version (just times, no splits)
Comprehensive version (with splits)

  1. ACTIVE COACH ON DECK (I currently coach a regular masters workout)

  3. EXPERIENCED and/or CERTIFIED ALTS INSTRUCTOR (I have taken the course and/or taught lessons and/or volunteered)

  5. INTERESTED in ALTS INSTRUCTING (I have suggestions about ALTS programs and/or I want to volunteer and/or I want to learn more)

Calling all Swimmers

We need your help completing our “PLACES TO SWIM” resource – we are trying to compile a list of all the places, days and times where Minnesota Masters Swimmers get in the water, so that members who are looking for a place to swim have more information.  Please fill out the following survey form and let us know where and when *you* swim!

PLACES TO SWIM – where and when do you swim?

Minnetonka 5 Mile Swim on August 13

Registration is now open for the Twin Cities Open Water Half Marathon series including swims on July 16 (5K at Square Lake), August 13 (5 miles at Lake Minnetonka, and September 10 (JJ Hill 1 & 2 miles).

Here are the results from the Square Lake 5k swim.

YWCA Women’s Triathlon needs noodle swimmers on August 14!

The YWCA Women’s Tri is looking for Noodle Swimmerslifeguards and and many dry opportunities as well! The YWCA would love it if you would sign up to sit on a noodle race morning at Lake Nokomis and encourage swimmers. This race gets a ton of first timers so this support is very important. There is also free food and swag. Tons of freebies (or not if you hate clutter) and they definitely find you a swim cap! Lifeguards are paid FYI.

2022 USMS 5K/10K Virtual Championships

Go looong this summer with the 2022 USMS 5K/10K Virtual Championships. Entries are open now, and swims are to be completed between May 15–Sept. 15. All participants receive an event cap. Clubs with the most swimmers can win up to $300 and prizes from our partners. Get more information here.

Fitness Challenges

There are a lot of ongoing fitness challenges to help keep you motivated in your swimming.  Some of these are sponsored by USMS, some are not.  Many are to support good causes.  Let us know if you are aware of others to add to the list.
