U.S. Masters Swimming (USMS) exists to promote fitness and health in adults by offering and supporting Masters Swimming programs. USMS was founded in 1970 and currently has more than 60,000 members nationwide. It supports and encourages competition, however more than half of its members are fitness swimmers who do not compete. Prospective members and clubs join the USMS organization through their Local Masters Swim Committee (LMSC).
Minnesota Masters(LMSC) Local Masters Swimming Committee promotes swimming throughout our region as part of a healthy lifestyle for adults of all swimming experience levels, from novice to expert. We have a wide range of programs for all adult swimmers (fitness, triathlete, competitive) that provide organized workouts, technique instruction and skills development, opportunities for pool or open water competition, as well as opportunities for community involvement. Our region consists of Minnesota & the western Wisconsin counties of St. Croix, Dunn & Pierce. We relish the camaraderie of fellow swimmers as we support each other in striving to reach our personal goals.
Minnesota LMSC is one of 52 LMSC's across the United States, that carry out the national organization's mission.
Currently, our LMSC has 36 organized Clubs/Workout-Groups and over 1200 individuals have current memberships for 2016.
